With wellness now being an integral part of private travel, Winch Design has come up with a Zen-inspired cabin for VIP airliners.

One of the main attractions of flying private is that it keeps standards high and your blood pressure low. The whole experience, from the moment you are welcomed at the VIP terminal to the handling of documents, is relaxed, seamless, and unobtrusive. It’s by far the most relaxing of any form of long-range travel on the planet, but why should that feeling of calm stop once you climb on board?

1. Winch already has vast experience in designing spas for superyachts - such as the one built for M/Y Excellence, pictured.

SKY SPA

Wellness, relaxation and taking care of your mental health are now essential to both business and home life and with mindfulness in mind, the team at Winch Design have created a sky spa for client who wanted to continue her yoga rituals in the air. Not everyone needs to flip open the laptop as soon as the captain taxies for take off. In fact, it makes sense to fully take advantage of the ultra low cabin altitudes, natural light and quiet cruising to connect with your inner self.

Taking the concept of on board wellness to the extreme, Winch Design has opened up the floorplan to create a spacious area forward for practicing the lotus, triangle and child’s pose. Full height mirror panels help to perfect positioning accordingly and the foot-worn timber flooring and sustainable materials not only accentuate the feeling of serenity but are also ultra-lightweight compared to heavy carpet, 6-seater leather sofas and chunky wooden tables.

Amidships is a space dominated by a large Asian-inspired tapchan. This can function as a daybed or sofa depending on relaxation levels and the beauty of minimalism is that a tapchan is all you need, despite the volume offered by the ACJ-Neo, or BBJ Max’s beam. Aft is the bathroom, complete with rain shower, twin basins and large round mirrors.

With its wide-open spaces, natural fabrics, leathers and marbles this is the ultimate aerial retreat, and all that’s needed to complete the spa experience is the simple addition of lavender and eucalyptus essential oils.
