G400: FIRST FLIGHT
The all-new Gulfstream G400 completes first flight.
Back in 1958, Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. invented the first purpose-built business aircraft, the Gulfstream I. Today, with more than 3,000 aircraft in service around the world, the Savannah headquartered manufacturer has achieved another milestone, as the all-new Gulfstream G400 has successfully completed its first flight. Officially launching the flight test program and further expanding Gulfstream’s ultramodern, high-technology family of next-generation aircraft, the first flight defines a new standard with the highest performance and greatest comfort ever experienced in this segment.
THE FLIGHT
The G400 took off from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at 9:04 a.m. and completed its flight 2 hours and 55 minutes later. During the flight, it reached a top speed of Mach 0.85 and an altitude of 41,000 feet (12,497 meters). This flight was achieved using a blend of sustainable aviation fuel sourced from Gulfstream’s Savannah campus.
HIGH PERFORMER
The G400 sets a new standard in performance and efficiency, thanks to Gulfstream’s aerodynamic clean-wing design, cutting-edge Pratt & Whitney Canada PW812GA engines, and state-of-the-art avionics. Capable of flying 4,200 nautical miles (7,778 kilometers) at Mach 0.85, the aircraft is equipped with Gulfstream’s renowned Symmetry Flight Deck and Predictive Landing Performance System, both designed to enhance flight safety and pilot awareness. Additionally, the G400 features an advanced high-speed wing and winglet, originally introduced on the G500 and G600, which significantly boost aerodynamic efficiency.
See productivity soar: Optimal floorplans provide up to 2.5 living areas, so passengers have flexible space for meetings, focused work, and relaxation.
LUXURY CABIN
The G400 gives customers the option of three customisable floorplans, accommodating up to nine, 11, or 12 passengers. It delivers the signature Gulfstream Cabin Experience, featuring 100% fresh, non-recirculated air purified by a plasma ionization system, the lowest cabin altitude in its class, and natural light from 10 large Gulfstream Panoramic Oval Windows.
“The completion of the first flight marks a significant milestone for the G400, said Mark Burns, president, of Gulfstream. “It demonstrates, yet again, the maturity of Gulfstream’s new aircraft programs and the advantages created by the intentionally designed commonalities shared across our next-generation fleet.”
Unparalleled Views: Ten windows—the largest in business aviation—offer abundant natural light and sweeping views of the world outside.
