The business world looks forward to flying the Gulfstream G800, the world’s longest-range business aircraft.

We’ve been following the development of Gulfstream‘s G800 since its formal introduction back in October 2021. Introduced before a live audience and a global virtual broadcast at its Savannah headquarters, Gulfstream stunned attendees and online viewers with the live reveal of the G800. “For more than six decades, Gulfstream has led the business aviation industry with our commitment to continuous improvement and by consistently setting new standards for safety, performance, innovation and comfort,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream at the time. “Today marks a major milestone and investment in our company’s future with the introduction of the G800, our fastest longest-range aircraft yet, and the G400, the industry’s first new large-cabin aircraft in more than a decade.”

Range is its forte, as it can fly 8,000 nautical miles/14,816 kilometers at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 nm/12,964 km at Mach 0.90 with class-leading fuel-efficiency.

FIRST FLIGHT

A mere eight months after its announcement, the first G800 test flight took place in the sky above Savannah. On June 28th 2022, the jet’s flight-test program officially launched as the G800 departed Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport at 9:00 a.m. and landed back there after a two hour flight with Burns commenting: “When the first G800 test aircraft rolled out at our announcement last fall, we changed the game once again for our industry. At Gulfstream, working closely with our customers allows us to continuously build on our successes and develop aircraft that exceed their expectations. The G800 pushes the boundaries of performance even further with Gulfstream-designed aerodynamics and cabin technology, and we look forward to our customers benefiting from the longer range at higher speeds in our exceptional cabin environment.”

TODAY’S G800

Fast-forward to the New Year and Gulfstream is ready to begin deliveries for 2023. This is just in time for the predicted return to pre COVID business in the jet sector and here’s what to expect from the all-new ultralong-range aircraft. Range is its forte, as it can fly 8,000 nautical miles/14,816 kilometers at Mach 0.85 and 7,000 nm/12,964 km at Mach 0.90 with class-leading fuel-efficiency. This opens up more nonstop destinations than any other aircraft, while the Gulfstream’s high-speed range advantage can save you up to 1.5 hours3 on flights longer than 6,500 nm/12,038 km.

G800 POWER

This globe spanning performance comes courtesy of two all-new, high-thrust Rolls-Royce engines. These Pearl 700 engines combine the most efficient engine core available across the business aviation sector with a brand-new low-pressure system, resulting in an 8% increase in take-off thrust at 18,250lb compared to the BR725 engine. The Rolls-Royce’s also offer a 12% better thrust-to-weight ratio and 5% higher efficiency, while maintaining its class-leading low noise and emissions performance.

G800 LUXURY

Long distance comfort is a must for serious fliers and the G800 comforts and cossets with a cabin focused on relaxation. Space, quality and the use of the finest materials create an airy feel, accentuated by the lowest cabin altitude in the industry and the 100% fresh air, renewed every two to three minutes and purified by Gulfstream’s plasma-ionization clean air system.

Maximising comfort on long-distance journeys: Relax and breathe comfortably in an atmosphere of 100% fresh air, continuously renewed every two to three minutes, and purified using advanced plasma-ionization clean air technology.

Flexibility is all part of G800 ownership too, as the cabin can be configured in different ways. Operators can choose from four living areas with no crew compartment, or three living areas with a dedicated crew compartment. There is seating up to 19 passengers, with the possibility of sleeping up to seven guests, all in total comfort.

Add next-generation avionics, including 10 touch-screen displays (the most extensive use in business aviation), dual head-up displays featuring Gulfstream’s new Combined Vision System (CVS), plus an award-winning predictive landing performance system and you have one of the most impressive business aircraft in the skies.
