AUDEMARS PIGUET: ANALYSE THIS

Audemars Piguet’s new Royal Oak Offshore models have been inspired by high-end HiFi.

No self respecting HiFi separate system would be complete without a spectrum analyser. These colourful LED displays light up with the beat of your tunes, and the faster the rhythm, the more impressive the light show. Audemars Piguet is paying homage to the world of music with five new Royal Oak Offshore editions, all with a style based around the pulsing lights of the spectrum analyser.

WE ARE FAMILY

Measuring in at 37 and 43 mm sizes, the five models consist of two models in titanium, two in gemset 18-carat white gold, and one in black ceramic. These references are equipped with self-winding movements driving hours, minutes and seconds hands: the new Calibre 5909 for the 37 mm models and Calibre 4309 for the 43 mm variants.

The 37 mm model displays the aesthetic codes of the Royal Oak Offshore chronographs of the same diameter and also picks up the enlarged bevels and the curved crystal of the latest 43 mm iterations. The absence of a date window leaves plenty of space for the coloured equaliser design, and who needs to know what day it is when you have a disco on your wrist?

THE STONES

The two white gold 37 mm and 43 mm models are set with coloured “Harmony”-cut stones. The ten colours composing the columns of the equaliser are achieved here by using the invisible setting technique for various gems: rubies, peridots, tsavorites, green, blue and orange sapphires. Similar coloured stones (rubies, tsavorites, yellow, orange, green and blue sapphires) adorn the bezels of both references, harmoniously matching the shades of the dial.

MAKING MUSIC

AP’s relationship with music started back in 1875 with the development of chiming watches and more recently, the Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer has collaborated with the likes of Jay-Z, Quincy Jones and more recently, the DJ Mark Ronson, who became an ambassador in 2022, working with him on various inspirational projects.
