HEESEN M/Y LUSINE: FAST COMPANY

Lifestyle — 24.01.24

M/Y Lusine is Heesen’s largest-ever steel fast-displacement motor yacht.

For a 60-metre superyacht, Heesen’s M/Y Lusine can push through the waves at a heady 17.5 knots – an impressive number for a vessel with an enclosed volume of 1,079 Gross Tonnes. Heesen’s renowned Fast Displacement Hull Form (a patented design from the Van Oossanen studio, honed to perfection by Heesen’s naval architects) combined with a pair of MTU 4000 series diesel engines also allow Lusine to cruise comfortably at 13 knots giving her a range of 4,200 nautical miles.

EXTERIOR DESIGN

Thanks to Omega Architects, Lusine looks as fast as she performs. Most Heesens are blessed with a sporty look, and Lusine has been given a bold and muscular aesthetic, characterised by Frank Laupman’s sharp edges as seen in the multi-faceted and eye-catching ‘bird wing’ shape that integrates the three decks. Omega’s sleek signature lines are highlighted by the swathes of uninterrupted black thermo- bonded glazing that cut through the superstructure while this vast amount of glass also ensures close and unobstructed views of the surrounding seascape and an interior imbued with natural light.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Although it’s quite normal for Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design to make use of rare wood, precious fabrics, and exquisite leather in the interior design, its artisans created a high level of design detailing when putting it together that set Lusine’s interior apart from her peers. Elegantly lined furnishings, the intricacy of design, and the unique combination of materials work together to create an integrated result, where interior and exterior complement each other and the fluid indoor/outdoor connection remains uninterrupted.

Lusine is the perfect example of what a knowledgeable client can achieve in terms of creating a custom yacht.

Omega Architects: Frank Laupman of Omega Architects designed the exterior lines, introducing an eye-catching ‘bird’s wing’ motif to integrate the main, bridge, and sun decks without interrupting the bold, horizontal sweep of the tinted windows.

Arthur Brouwer, Heesen’s CEO concludes: “Lusine is the perfect example of what a knowledgeable client can achieve in terms of creating a custom Heesen yacht. This 60-metre yacht embodies our savoir-faire at its best: sturdy, elegant, and extremely efficient. Lusine boasts the most complicated interior design we have ever created. We are one of the few shipyards in the world with the in-house know-how and capacity to build yachts of this caliber.”
